Why hello there kittens! I’ve been without internet access for the last month and a bit so it’s been a while n’est-ce pas?
There have been some changes in the Poutine world, all of which are good. I’m the proud auntie of a gorgeous baby boy, I’m settled into a fab new apartment (would you be interested in a bit of a tour?), and I start a new job tomorrow!
Anyway, I just wanted to give you a sneaky peek of some products I’ve been crushing on lately.
The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub. I love the idea of body scrubs but most of the ones I’ve tried leave an oily film on my skin. Not so here folks. This stuff is divine and rinses off completely so that you are left with smooth skin and nothing else! It smells like raspberry jam, looks like raspberry jam, but it most definitely does not taste like raspberry jam.
I obsessed over this lip balm for months before actually purchasing it. This is a total indulgence. It is tres expensive. I regret nothing. The Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm works with your body chemistry to turn your pout the perfect shade of pink for your skin tone. It has a faint minty scent and is super thick and hydrating. One swipe lasts several hours. I’ve been going for minimal make-up this summer and this is the perfect finish for a glowy daytime look.
I love bold, fluttery lashes. I think the right mascara can really make your eyes pop. Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes fits the bill. Last night I went to town and applied about six coats. I could see my lashes from 3 feet away. Delicious. I chose the non-waterproof formula and I do find that it smudges a bit at the end of the day. All in all though I’ve been enjoying this mascara.
What are you crushing on this summer?
So you guys have probably noticed that my love affair with the Body Shop has been going through a bit of a renaissance lately. I just think that they have great products at completely reasonable prices. I’ve been branching out in what I buy there, in the past I’ve just stuck to body wash and lotion, and I’ve been very pleased.
Recently I’ve been hearing a lot about cleansing balms on different blogs and on YouTube. In particuar, the Emma Hardie cleansing balm has been getting a lot of attention. It sounds divine but I just can’t stomach spending $56 or more on a cleanser. Seems a little cray, oui? Enter The Body Shop. They do a cleansing butter (same thing my pets) at a regular girl price point! The Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is about $16 and is just divine.
I got mine for 50% off! Anyway, it’s a solid in the pan but as you work it into your face it melts into a lovely, indulgent oil. It melts off make-up in moments and rinses off easily leaving your skin squeaky clean and moisturized. I really enjoy using this product. I take it off with a warm face cloth and it’s lovely; almost as nice as a hot bath. It’s also very gentle. I massage it right into my eyelids and it doesn’t irritate my eyes at all.
As you can see, I’ve already used it a lot! I think this cleansing butter is destined to become a staple in my skin care routine.
How do you take your make-up off?
10 Days of Favourites #7: Chocomania
Ok. I know I’ve already talked about this twice. I can’t help myself though, I’m addicted. You know what I’m talking about. The Chocomania line from the Body Shop.
It bears repeating. This. Stuff. Is. Amazing. I love it. I want to eat it, sleep in it, bathe in it. It smells so good. It may be my favourite product scent of all time… and that’s saying a lot because I am a yummy scent junkie. Oh yeah, and it works well too.
Have you tasted tried anything from this line yet?
So I haven’t really blogged about my skin care routine because, frankly, I think it’s kind of dull. That said, I do take good care of my skin because you only get one face. I think it’s a good idea to look after it. Ya feel me? I don’t do anything super fancy but I definitely have a few products I swear by. For me, exfoliating, toning, and moisturizing are the keys to healthy looking skin. I recently ran out of toner and I wanted to try something new. I headed to the good old Body Shop, I’ve been obsessed with it lately, and picked up a bottle of the Seaweed Clarifying Toner.
This toner is supposed to remove impurities and refine pores. I haven’t really noticed a difference in my pores (does anyone ever actually see a change? ) but I do like this stuff. It’s really good for catching any make up I missed when washing my face and it’s super gentle. It’s also going to last for ages, which is nice. My only complaint is that the bottle isn’t very squeezy. Overall I think I will definitely be repurchasing this product.
On the same trip I also purchased a tub of the Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream.
With the change in seasons my skin had been feeling a little dry and I wanted a richer moisturizer. I read positive reviews of this one on a few blogs and I wasn’t disappointed.
This cream is very silky and luxurious. It’s not greasy and just gives that extra bit of hydration that I was looking for. It’s a day cream but I’ve been using it at night as well because I’m
lazy a rebel and it does the job nicely. It claims to be light reflecting but to be honest I really haven’t noticed anything like that; however, I like this cream and I will definitely buy it again.
P.S. I am still completely obsessed with the Chocomania Dry Oil. Have you tried it yet? I think that you should.
What’s your skin care routine?
I don’t know if you guys are into this kind of post or not, but I always enjoy them on other blogs. So, without further ado, here is my Fall 2013 Wishlist.
Mom – feel free to check this list out for Christmas information;)
1. Wilfred by Aritzia Free Yasmin Dress
I’ve been obsessed with this dress for a while, ever since it started popping up on all of my favourite blogs. I love it for summer with just a pair of sandals, and also for fall and winter with tights, boots, and a chunky sweater.
2. Nine West Valcaria Boots
Riding boots aren’t going anywhere this season. I’ve got a busted zipper on my old pair, as well as general scuffs, scratches, and holes so I’m thinking it might be time for a new pair! In the winter I live in my boots.
3. A really simple, structured bag.
I just want something that’s a great goes-with-everything bag.
4. Anything and everything from the Body Shop’s Chocomania line because I am ADDICTED.
What’s on your wishlist?
*Disclaimer – no Mother, I haven’t been shopping. I’ve been wishing.

I’m not generally a chocolate loving girl. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the odd square or three, but if it’s a choice between a chocolate bar and a salty snack, salt wins every time. My favourite thing to have for dessert is chips. I’ve seriously considered setting up a salt lick in my bedroom. All that saltiness aside though, I am currently completely addicted to the Body Shop’s Chocomania Beautifying Oil.
Holy crap you guys, this stuff is unbelievable! The Body Shop nails their scents every time. This oil smells like high quality chocolate. It’s not at all sickly or fake, unlike the scents from
Bath and Body Works some other retailers. Once it’s on the skin the scent really lasts as well, but it’s not overpowering. Another great thing about this product is that it’s multi-purpose! You can use it on your body, your hair, and your face! So far I’ve only used it on my arms and legs but I will definitely try it out on my hair.
Verdict? GO GET YOURSELF A BOTTLE! It’s on sale right now!
Are you a Body Shop lover?
obessession love affair with lip gloss began in 1993 or 1994 when I stole a pot of Body Shop Strawberry Lip Balm from my dear mother. Back in those days the big thing was to stick your finger into the pot and stir the gloss up. The 90s were a strange time…
Fast forward to the present and I’m still a devotee of my good old strawberry gloss. These days they’ve updated the packaging, and darkened the colour, but it’s still the same yummy stuff I remember from my early teen years.
Here is my
beat-up well-loved pot of The Body Shop’s Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Blam. I keep this one stashed in my purse for when I need a slick of gloss and a pop of colour. It’s thick but not sticky, easy to apply, and smells like Fruit Roll-Ups. Total win! Every time I dig into this little beaut I’m taken on a mini trip back to my youth, not that I’d want to be 13 again but I don’t mind the occastional visit! If you’re looking for a fairly low-cost, classic, and pretty balm this one is a good bet! It’s pretty on its own, but also looks great layered over a lip stain or even a nude lipstick.
Do you have a childhood favourite that you’re still using?
