1. Don’t drink and shop (I’ll never forget the regrettable sweater incident of 2011);
2. Don’t shop on an empty stomach, you want to be thinking clearly;
3. Don’t buy a piece unless you can visualize it with three distinct outfits using items you already have in your wardrobe.
The last rule is important because you don’t want to end up with a fantastic top that works only one way. Who wants to be seen in the same look over and over again? Not I.
So friends, I give you a new post: One Piece Three Ways.
Look One: Drinks With the Girls
Necklace: Evernew Clutch: American Apparel Shoes: Nine West Lippy: MAC Fuscia Fusion
Look Two: Casual Saturday
Necklace: Guess Jean Jacket: Mavi Purse: Rebecca Minkoff Booties: Little Burgundy
Look Three: Beach Day
Sunnies: Barefoot Contessa Beach Bag: Bath and Bodyworks (gifted) Sandals: American Eagle Outfitters Bikini: Victoria’s Secret
These are just a few of the looks I can create with this romper. I could also add tights, boots, and a sweater for winter or pair it with a skirt and wear it as a top. The possibilities are endless. If you don’t have a romper, swap it out for a sundress! This is just a small sample of the ways you can create unique looks by changing the accessories.
Do you think about versatility when you’re shopping? I’d love to hear your tips!
I don’t know if you guys are into this kind of post or not, but I always enjoy them on other blogs. So, without further ado, here is my Fall 2013 Wishlist.
Mom – feel free to check this list out for Christmas information;)
1. Wilfred by Aritzia Free Yasmin Dress
I’ve been obsessed with this dress for a while, ever since it started popping up on all of my favourite blogs. I love it for summer with just a pair of sandals, and also for fall and winter with tights, boots, and a chunky sweater.
2. Nine West Valcaria Boots
Riding boots aren’t going anywhere this season. I’ve got a busted zipper on my old pair, as well as general scuffs, scratches, and holes so I’m thinking it might be time for a new pair! In the winter I live in my boots.
3. A really simple, structured bag.
I just want something that’s a great goes-with-everything bag.
4. Anything and everything from the Body Shop’s Chocomania line because I am ADDICTED.
What’s on your wishlist?
*Disclaimer – no Mother, I haven’t been shopping. I’ve been wishing.
Most of the offices I’ve worked at have had some kind of casual Friday policy. I think it’s fun and it helps to boost moral. I enjoy having the chance to show off a bit more of my personality (not too much – I don’t want to scare people!) at work. I tend to push the envelope a bit when it comes to business casual by incorporating lots of bright colour and fun accessories, and I see casual Friday as a chance to push it even more!
I think today’s outfit is a perfect example of my philosophy when it comes to dressing for the office, fun and fashionable, but polished and professional at the same time.
Cardigan: Unknown, Top: The Gap, Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters, Pumps: Nine West, Belt: Abercrombie & Fitch (eBay), Necklace: Gifted, Watch: Belonged to my dad, Ring: Etsy
Fun fact: I’m 5’2 & 1/2″, but in these shoes I’m 5’6 & 1/2″! It’s fun being tall!
Would I get away with this casual Friday look at your office?
