I’ve had a revelation my little cabbages. I think it’s a game changer. I base about 80% of my product purchases on scent. That conditioner that smells like pineapple? Obviously! The lotion that is so citrusy and delicious that you can barely stop yourself from eating it? Of course! So my realization is this: life would be much easier if decisions were scented. That first apartment you looked at smells of vanilla, it’s a go! That top that has those weird ruffles smells like cabbage, better pass. Those blue shoes smell like cherries, but the black ones remind you of popcorn, both obviously (when it’s shoes the answer is always both)! I really think I’m on to something, scented choices make all of life’s decisions so much easier! My last boyfriend smelled of sour milk. I should have known.
Anyway, I’m here to talk about a product that not only smells delicious, but is also effective! Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. The ingredient list on the tube reads like a fruit salad and the scent is amazing. To me it smells like fresh peaches. Divine.
I mentioned in my last post that I’ve been feeling a bit dry as of late. My poor face has been tight and a little painful to the touch. I’ve read a number of rave reviews of the Drink Up Intensive mask and so I bought it in the hopes that it would be part of the solution to my dry skin woes. I’m not disapointed friends. I’ve used it four times now and woken up each morning with vevelty soft cheeks that would put a fluffy kitty to shame. Overall my face feels smoother, softer, and much less tight. In combination with an exfoliant and a good cleanse, this mask is a total win. I love that it’s an overnight mask as well. The fact that I don’t have to wash it off after 5 minutes means that I’ll actually use it! Fab.
How are you dealing with dry winter skin?
In other news, I have another idea for a series so keep an eye out for that coming up sometime soon!
So I haven’t really blogged about my skin care routine because, frankly, I think it’s kind of dull. That said, I do take good care of my skin because you only get one face. I think it’s a good idea to look after it. Ya feel me? I don’t do anything super fancy but I definitely have a few products I swear by. For me, exfoliating, toning, and moisturizing are the keys to healthy looking skin. I recently ran out of toner and I wanted to try something new. I headed to the good old Body Shop, I’ve been obsessed with it lately, and picked up a bottle of the Seaweed Clarifying Toner.
This toner is supposed to remove impurities and refine pores. I haven’t really noticed a difference in my pores (does anyone ever actually see a change? ) but I do like this stuff. It’s really good for catching any make up I missed when washing my face and it’s super gentle. It’s also going to last for ages, which is nice. My only complaint is that the bottle isn’t very squeezy. Overall I think I will definitely be repurchasing this product.
On the same trip I also purchased a tub of the Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream.
With the change in seasons my skin had been feeling a little dry and I wanted a richer moisturizer. I read positive reviews of this one on a few blogs and I wasn’t disappointed.
This cream is very silky and luxurious. It’s not greasy and just gives that extra bit of hydration that I was looking for. It’s a day cream but I’ve been using it at night as well because I’m
lazy a rebel and it does the job nicely. It claims to be light reflecting but to be honest I really haven’t noticed anything like that; however, I like this cream and I will definitely buy it again.
P.S. I am still completely obsessed with the Chocomania Dry Oil. Have you tried it yet? I think that you should.
What’s your skin care routine?
I have the oiliest skin you’ve ever seen. I’m constantly sopping up slicks on my t-zone with oil absorbing sheets (my favourite ones are made by Bioré). I’ve been told that it’s a good thing, because when I’m old I’ll have young looking skin. Woopie. I want good skin now while I’m still *ahem* young.
I wash my face twice a day with a tea tree oil cleanser. I use a daily exfoliating scrub every morning in the shower. I use a toner, and a little cooling eye gel. I stopped using face cream when I moved to Vancouver because it’s so humid here. With all of these ministrations my skin has become a tad less oily. A tad. The downside, however, is that I often wake up with flaky, over dried skin. Unpleasant. Last night I tried something new. I slathered Morrocan Oil, which I use on my hair (MIRACLE product), all over my face. I left it on for half an hour and then rinsed with warm water.
It felt super greasy on, and it took a lot of self control not to rinse it off immediately. I also somehow managed to get it all over my glasses, what a disaster that was!
The result? I woke up this morning with nary a flake in sight, and dewy, soft skin! I highly recommend giving this a try if you’re finding yourself with over-dried skin. I love a good multipurpose product!
