Welcome to another Everlane review! In the past I’ve stayed away from delicate fabrics such as silk and cashmere. I was worried that I would not be able to properly wash them (we do not have access to reliable dry cleaning where I live) and end up ruining the garment. Recently, I’ve decided that life is short and if I want to wear silk and cashmere then I am going to wear silk and cashmere. Lack of dry cleaning facilities be darned, I’ll hand wash! I’d been eyeing up Everlane’s silk shirts for several months so I was delighted when the chance to try out their Shirred Silk Shirt came up. I ordered it in black because I did not want to tempt the fates with a lighter colour.

Why Everlane:
Everlane is committed to ethical clothing production and sustainability. They use only the most ethical factories around the world – factories that provide their employees with fair wages, reasonable hours, and a safe and healthy working environment. After the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh on April 24, 2013, which killed 1,134 people, the unethical treatment of garment workers for fast fashion retailers was brought to light. In choosing to shop with ethical companies, we choose to tell fast fashion that mistreatment of our fellow human beings is unacceptable.
Everlane Shirred Silk Shirt Review:
As I mentioned in my previous Everlane review, the packaging my items were shipped in was very minimal. I adore seeing a brand making efforts to avoid unnecessary waste. My first impression of the shirt was that the attention to detail is lovely. The shirred shoulders are delicate and feminine and the slightly blousy sleeves are fluttery but not too fussy. The hidden placket is also a nice touch, the hidden buttons make the shirt look a bit more finished.
The shape of the top is a bit cropped and boxy, as is typical for Everlane. It’s perfect for tucking into high-waisted jeans and skirts. I styled it for work with my trusty pencil skirt (I do adore an all black outfit), my favourite Sam Edelman snake print loafers and my little Kate Spade cross-body bag. I finished off the look with my everyday delicate gold jewelry.
