There’s been a lot of change in my life over the last couple of years. I’ve changed jobs a few times, moved twice, gone back to school, and now I’m trying to make a go of it in Vancouver. I feel almost at a bit of a crossroads: I’m about to turn 100 33 (ack!!), and I haven’t got a job, a car, or a home of my own. This is not exactly what I had envisioned for myself. However, in spite of all that I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time. City life agrees with me.
I have the oiliest skin you’ve ever seen. I’m constantly sopping up slicks on my t-zone with oil absorbing sheets (my favourite ones are made by Bioré). I’ve been told that it’s a good thing, because when I’m old I’ll have young looking skin. Woopie. I want good skin now while I’m still *ahem* young.
I wash my face twice a day with a tea tree oil cleanser. I use a daily exfoliating scrub every morning in the shower. I use a toner, and a little cooling eye gel. I stopped using face cream when I moved to Vancouver because it’s so humid here. With all of these ministrations my skin has become a tad less oily. A tad. The downside, however, is that I often wake up with flaky, over dried skin. Unpleasant. Last night I tried something new. I slathered Morrocan Oil, which I use on my hair (MIRACLE product), all over my face. I left it on for half an hour and then rinsed with warm water.
It felt super greasy on, and it took a lot of self control not to rinse it off immediately. I also somehow managed to get it all over my glasses, what a disaster that was!
The result? I woke up this morning with nary a flake in sight, and dewy, soft skin! I highly recommend giving this a try if you’re finding yourself with over-dried skin. I love a good multipurpose product!
What are your secrets for dealing with problem skin?
I’m a complete fashion junkie. Always have been, always will be. When I walk into a mall I get a rush from all of the stores I’ve yet to visit. It’s like taking that first sip of coffee in the morning or that first bite of a delicious, oozy danish. In short, it’s divine.
One of my favourite Canadian online stores is La Maison Simons. Even the name is fantastic! I first discovered Simons during a visit to Quebec City in 2007. I was staying with a couple of girlfriends. They took me to see the sights (Quebec City is the only walled city in North America), to some fantastic restaurants (including one that served bottomless mussels), and finally, because they love me so much they took me shopping. My friends aren’t interested in shopping (gasp), and so they patiently waited outside while I shopped to my little heart’s content.
Now, I can say “hello” and “good bye” and “please” and “thank you” in French, but that’s about it. My friends were amazed to discover that within moments of arriving at Simons, I had checked my coat, secured a fitting room, and enlisted the help of a sales girl in finding a couple of things in my size. Needless to say, it’s a great store and I was motivated! It’s amazing what you can communicate when you want something badly enough!
A little over a year ago I was thrilled to discover that Simon’s was opening an online shop. For months I waited patiently for it to open and as soon as it did I put my order in.
One of the great things about Simons is that they sell fun decor items as well as men’s and women’s casual, elegant, and trendy clothing. There’s something for everyone. One of my all time favourite purchases is a faux zebra skin rug from Simon’s, which is machine washable.
I also just happen to be wearing a sailor dress today that I scored at Simon’s.
The shipping is prompt and resonably priced and you will always be thanked for your business. The site is easy to naviagte, and attractive. The prices are reasonable and the quality is great. The prcies are all in Canadian dollars.
If you pop in make sure to let them know I sent you and enjoy!
