A dupe for Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In One Lactic Acid Treatment that’s too good to keep to myself!

Sunday Riley Good Genes

It’s very dry where I live. Think of a desert with snow. As I’ve aged I’ve found that my skin is less able to cope with the climate than it was when I was younger. It’s still oily but now, for the first time in my life, I am having to deal with the occasional dry patch, some redness, and a general tight feeling in my skin. Unpleasant. I got this generous sample size of Sunday Riley Good Genes All-I-One Lactic Acid Treatment in a Sephora Favourites box of goodies I bought last winter. I finally got around to using it in February and within a few weeks my skin was looking the best it had in a long time. Colour me impressed.

Good Genes is described on the Sephora website as a “clarifying, line smoothing lactic acid treatment.” I used one pump in the morning and found that was enough for my entire face. With consistent use over a month or so I noticed improvement in the texture of my skin, significantly less irritation and redness, and no break outs. It was amazing. I was desperately sad when I ran out because, at $138.00 for a one ounce bottle, this is a product that is definitely out of my price range. It was time to look for a dupe.

Lactic Acid

I did some research to find out exactly why this product is such a miracle worker. What I learned is that lactic acid, which is in the Good Genes treatment, is a moisturizing exfoliant. It smooths skin but is quite mild. It also lightens dark spots. This is an excellent article if you are interested in learning more about the commonly found acids in skincare.

The Ordinary Lactic Acid

I decided to give The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% a try to see if it produced similar results. I’ve been using it once daily in the evening for the past month and I am happy to report that my skin is looking just as good as it did when I was using the Sunday Riley treatment. Why is this such good news? It’s because of the price kittens! A one ounce bottle is only going to set you back $6.70 and it is an excellent dupe. I’m pretty sure there are drinks at Starbucks that cost more than that! Do yourself a favour – skip your coffee tomorrow morning and grab a bottle of this stuff instead. You won’t be disappointed.

So there you have it, an amazingly affordable dupe for Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment. So tell me, do you know of any good skincare or make-up dupes?

  2. This sounds really good! The Ordinary is a brand I’ve wanted to try for ages so I might give this a try. The price of the original one is so expensive, so I’m glad you were able to find a dupe!
