Hello! Have you missed me friends? I’ve certainly missed you!
I don’t often polish my nails, because I’m simply too
lazy busy. Once in a while I get around to it and, while I do enjoy the way it looks, my nails are usually chipping by the second day. Anyway, I recently aquired a fun purple for sping and wanted to give it a whirl. Down I sat last night with my new bottle of Essie Play Date and went to town.
Essie polishes have received a lot of attention over the last few years and I was anxious to give the brand a try. Play date is a very pretty colour but the brush is small (I love the wide O.P.I. brushes), and the polish does not go on evenly. Some nails required two coats, some only one, and others needed three before the same opacity was achieved on all fingers.
The finish is nice, not super glossy; however, it’s day one and already the polish is wearing away on the tops of my nails. For $11 I don’t think Essie provides a lot of bang for your buck. It’s too bad because they do have quite a few pretty colours.
Just for fun I finished the look off with some pink O.P.I. (can’t remember the name unfortunately) polkadots!
Have you tried any nail art recently?
obessession love affair with lip gloss began in 1993 or 1994 when I stole a pot of Body Shop Strawberry Lip Balm from my dear mother. Back in those days the big thing was to stick your finger into the pot and stir the gloss up. The 90s were a strange time…
Fast forward to the present and I’m still a devotee of my good old strawberry gloss. These days they’ve updated the packaging, and darkened the colour, but it’s still the same yummy stuff I remember from my early teen years.
Here is my
beat-up well-loved pot of The Body Shop’s Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Blam. I keep this one stashed in my purse for when I need a slick of gloss and a pop of colour. It’s thick but not sticky, easy to apply, and smells like Fruit Roll-Ups. Total win! Every time I dig into this little beaut I’m taken on a mini trip back to my youth, not that I’d want to be 13 again but I don’t mind the occastional visit! If you’re looking for a fairly low-cost, classic, and pretty balm this one is a good bet! It’s pretty on its own, but also looks great layered over a lip stain or even a nude lipstick.
Do you have a childhood favourite that you’re still using?
So I finally got around to framing and hanging the lovely art work I purchased for my bedroom in December! I just had to share this with you guys because it is so fabulous!
I purchased these lovely prints from I See Noise, an artist based right here in Vancouver! She has a great shop on Etsy; all of her prints are reasonably priced at only $20! There is a great selection of beautiful prints, like the two above, and some really cute sayings (I was sorely tempted by “Some Girls Are Just Born With Glitter In Their Veins”).
My bedroom is now complete! If you’re looking for a little something to amp up your space I recommend giving this great little shop a browse!
Until next time my lovelies!
Today did not start well. I overslept, I spilled my favourite hair oil all over the bathroom counter, and I dropped my favourite lip gloss down the drain (how disgusting is that?). I was pretty scowly when I (finally) arrived at work. To quote the hilarious Ms. Jennifer Lawrence, I was thinking a word that “starts with f.” (http://bit.ly/13hySjd, turn the volume down if you’re at work.) Anyway, rather than give into the blues and eating my feelings (which is how I normally deal with the crabbies, or the sads, or the happies…) I thought I’d write a blog post because that’s something that always perks me up.
So, without further whingeing, today’s product is Smashbox’s Layer Lash Primer. This little beaut was recommended to me by my best gal pal, and am I ever grateful!
I sweep one layer of this on my lashes, which it turns white, and apply my undereye brightener while it dries. I finish with a swipe of mascara and, voila, lashes out to here! This is one item I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out, though I’ve had my tube since the end of September and it’s still going strong. The $18 price tag is a little daunting but, trust me my pets, it is worth every precious penny!
Do you use a lash primer?
