If I’m dashing out the door and only have a minute or so, the products I always take time to slap on are blush, lip balm, and mascara. I love mascara. I don’t have long or thick lashes so I love the extra oomph a couple swipes of mascara provides. I am lucky enough to have curly lashes (curly hair = curly lashes) so at least I don’t have to use a curler. Easy peasy.
I used to be all about BB cream, but lately I’ve been loving a light foundation. Maybe it’s because it’s getting cooler or maybe it’s because I’m fickle, but I’m over BB cream these days.
For clear, clean, and, most importantly, natural looking skin I’ve been reaching for three products.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (typing all of that exhausted me) provides light, even coverage. The gel formula is very similar to the consistency of BB cream. It’s easy to apply with a brush or with your fingers.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is something I’ve talked about before, but it’s such a fantastic buy. It’s a great long-lasting powder that helps keep me matte a little longer. This is my third pan!
Benefit’s Erase Paste sat in my kit unused for a long time. I don’t often need concealer; however, when I do this stuff is my go-to. This concealer will cover anything! You only need the teeniest amount and it always works well. Lately I’ve been using it as an eyeshadow base and it’s great for that too!
Hello my lovely blog friends! It’s simply been ages since I last bombarded delighted you with my thoughts! I blame work; I would be so much more productive if it weren’t for that pesky job!
Today I’m going to talk about something very special – Benefit Sugarbomb Ultra Plush Lip Gloss. Benefit describes this shade as a “shimmering pinky nude” and they’ve got it exactly right.
I layer this over a lip-stain and it’s perfect for daytime. A little shimmery, subtle, and it has reasonably good staying power. I usually reapply after lunch and I’m good for the rest of the day. The formula is light, and glides on very smoothly. A little goes a long way with this gloss, which makes the hefty $18 price tag a little easier to bear. I nabbed mine on eBay for a fraction of that price if you’re not feeling spendy.
My one beef with this gloss is that towards the end of the day it starts to feel really sticky. It sort of makes the skin around my mouth feel greasy, not the clearest explanation but it’s the only way I can think to describe the feeling.
Verdict? I like this gloss but I’m not prepared to pay the full price for it. I don’t think I’d repurchase.
I suffer from stumpy eyelash syndrome. It’s a problem, but one that I have come to terms with over the years. False eyelashes aren’t really an option because I’m far to clumsy to apply them properly. I’ve always just focussed more on my lips, and tried to forget my short stumpers. Then I discovered Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara. I grabbed it on a whim while on a bit of a make-up buying binge at Shopper’s Drug Mart with my bestie. It was next to the till, and friends, I think I’ve mentioned that I am highly susceptible to that sort of product placement.
As usual I ripped into my new loot the second I got home. I swiped on a couple of layers of my new mascara over the one I already had on and didn’t really notice much of a difference. It wasn’t until later that evening when I redid my make-up that I truly understood the miracle I had so blithely stumbled upon. Ladies, stumpy, forlorn lashes are officially a thing of my past! With a couple of coats of this magical elixir my lashes rest on my pillowy cheeks when I flutter them… or pretty close anyway! At $23 a pop this product is on the pricey side, but take it from me, it’s worth every penny!
Have you ever accidentally discovered a product you can’t live without?
I’m a Benefit girl, through and through. I love their fun packaging, their engaging website, and I spend an embarrassing amount of time watching their Youtube videos. It’s unusual for me to be loyal to any brand, I change shampoos like I change my underwear (regularly, just in case that’s not clear!). So if I’m hooked on something you know it’s good!
Anywhoskies, on to today’s product! Benefit’s Ooh La Lift. I picked this product up ages and ages ago during my Great Shopper’s Drugmart Optimum Points Shopping Spree of 2011 (otherwise known as The Greatest Day of My Life). It sat unused in my make up collection for sometime until I unearthed it a few weeks ago. I’d never really used the product because, frankly, I didn’t know what to do with it. A couple of Youtube Videos later I’d figured it out (you dot it under your eyes and blend with your ring finger….) and was off to the erasing-my-under-eye-bags races.
Truth be told, this product is not the miracle it is purported to be. In fairness though, is any product? Benefit describes Ooh La Lift thusly: “This legendary under-eye brightening boost looks like an instant eyelift! Contains raspberry extracts and light-reflecting pigments to instantly perk up tired eyes. This delicate pink balm can be applied on bare skin or over makeup.” Instant eyelift? No. Cool, refreshing, and pretty? Yes. Will I continue using it? Yes. Will I buy it again? Not sure. The verdict: Ooh La Lift is a nice product, I enjoy using it, and I’m not sorry it’s part of my arsenal.
There you have it friends! I apologize for the long-windedness of this post, though I am eating a cinnamon bun right now and so must confess, dear reader, that I am distracted!
