Coats and jackets have long been a favourite wardrobe item of mine. My collection is rather large and includes winter coats, faux fur, a Yukon parka, jean jackets, trenches, suede, and my leather jacket, which is one of my most prized possessions. If you challenged me to pick a favourite style I think I would have to go with moto jackets for a few different reasons. They are versatile, a bit edgy, and suit my body type – I have long legs and a short torso. Moto jackets hit at just the right spot near my waist.
In my work wardrobe basics post I mentioned that fact that I think a black skirt is a must-have. Mine gets worn three to four times per week. I would argue that it’s one of the hardest working pieces in my closet.
I’ve pulled together four different looks to give you some inspiration for styling a black skirt for the office. If skirts aren’t your thing I think black pants could easily be subbed in.
I’m on a shopping ban at the moment, however, I still have a running wish-list. When I do finally buy a few things I’ll refer to the list so that I stay on track and don’t end up with any unused pieces.
My original idea for this post was to talk about body positivity, but I think self love and acceptance is a more accurate description of what I have in mind. The thing I struggle with most is aging. We live in a youth obsessed society. It’s think it’s common for people, especially women, to feel less and less relevant as they age. I notice this particularly within the blogging and influencer community. Everyone seems to be younger than me!
A couple years ago it occurred to me that Mr. P&P was likely mighty sick of seeing me decked out in faded pjs with holes in them. Simultaneously it occurred to me that I spend 95% of my time at home in comfies. Since I’m a real homebody that accounts for a lot of my time in general. Surely it would make sense to invest a bit more in the lounge wear capsule section of my wardrobe? I’ve since curated a small collection of comfortable and cute pieces to wear while lounging at home and I haven’t looked back. Let’s take a look at what some of what I’ve got, shall we?
