Coats and Jackets

Coats and jackets have long been a favourite wardrobe item of mine. My collection is rather large and includes winter coats, faux fur, a Yukon parka, jean jackets, trenches, suede, and my leather jacket, which is one of my most prized possessions. If you challenged me to pick a favourite style I think I would have to go with moto jackets for a few different reasons. They are versatile, a bit edgy, and suit my body type – I have long legs and a short torso. Moto jackets hit at just the right spot near my waist.

Moto jackets are inspired by motorcyle wear. They are cropped in length, usually hitting at about the waist or top of the hips. They can be worn open or zipped closed and often have lots of details like buckles at the waist and chunky hardware. Moto jackets can be made from lots of different materials including leather, suede, and wool.

My collection of moto jackets

There are currently three in my collection. My beloved leather jacket that I purchased from Artizia last spring, a beautiful burgundy suede jacket that was a Christmas gift from Mr. P&P, and a boiled wool version that I purchased about six years ago from Simons and rediscovered this spring.

Moto jackets are incredibly versatile. They can be styled casually with jeans and a tee shirt, thrown over a fancy dress to create a more casual vibe, and worn with business casual outfits for the office. I wear mine during the week for work and on the weekends for casual activities and errands. I’ve pulled a few outfits from Pinterest for inspiration.

  1. I love moto jackets. They are something I feel I lack in my wardrobe though. I have one leather jacket that is the same cut as a moto, but lacks the hardwear. I really like how they can be dressed up for work or going out, and dressed down for more casual days! They really are so versatile.

    1. Agreed! I used to have another one that was kind of sweatshirt material but I think I finally donated it after about 10 solid years of wear:) A leather jacket is a classic!

  2. I also have this thing about buying jackets. They can totally change up a look! I got a moto style jacket during the winter and I love it!

  3. I love moto jackets! They never go out of style and there are so many styles and colours you can buy for a different look. Mine is plain black with a zip up the middle but I also like the ones with side zips or studs.
