LK Skincare: a review of a line designed to deliver results!

When an email from Leila, one of the owners of LK Skincare, popped up in my Gmail account in September asking me if I’d like to review their products I was, well, I was gobsmacked quite frankly. At first I wasn’t sure if it was real, but real it was and soon enough the LK Skincare day cream and cleanser were making their way to me. I’ve been using the products for a bit over a month now and feel ready to give you my thoughts. Welcome to my LK Skincare Review!

LK Skincare Review: Poutine and Prada

About the brand – LK Skincare

LK Skincare was founded by Leila and Kate when they became frustrated by spending a lot of money on products that did not deliver the results they were after. After discovering their two key ingredients, they got to work mixing creams in their kitchens. Eventually, working with a formulator, they came up with the 12 ingredient day cream. I’m not going to go into detail about all 12 ingredients in this post but you can read about them here. The rest is history.

Key Ingredients

Kigelia, a natural plant based extract from South Africa and Commiphora, which comes from a tree in North West India are the two feature ingredients in the day cream. The benefits are as follows:

  • inhibits the breakdown of fat and creates a youthful appearance

  • plumps from within leaving skin looking smoother and tighter

  • helps eliminate imperfections by naturally lightening pigmentation and helps reduce the appearance of acne scarring

  • helps prevent further ageing

  • helps skin back to health

  • promotes elasticity

  • helps with congestion and normalises oil secretion

  • battles against free radicals

LK Skincare Review: Day Cream

LK Skincare Day Cream

The day cream promises smoother, plumper skin. It is a very rich cream, a little goes a long way. I actually prefer using it at night because of how thick it is. However, on dry skin days it’s great. It’s not greasy but you do need to give it a minute to sink in before applying makeup. I definitely prefer a moisturizer like this one in the winter. It’s not strongly scented. To me it smells faintly of rose-hips but it’s not unpleasant. I’ve not experienced any irritation with this day cream. All in all I think this is a great all purpose day cream. It’s rich, hydrating, and leaves skin dewy and fresh.

LK Skincare Review: Cleanser

LK Skincare Cleanser

The cleanser is my favourite of the two products. I use it in the evening to remove makeup. The texture of this stuff is unlike anything else I’ve ever used. It’s a gel/oil cleanser and it’s incredibly thick. A fingertip full is enough for my entire face. You massage it into your skin, add in a bit of water until it turns milky, and then wash off with the muslin cloth that comes with it. It’s a luxurious experience.

I also like using it after a work out (I do work out… occasionally). I massage it into my face and then hop in the shower and rinse it off! It removes every trace of make up, including mascara, and is totally non-drying. It also does not cause any blurriness, which is a pet peeve of mine with a lot of cleansers. The cleanser contains six ingredients, which you can read about here.

Isn’t that texture amazing?

LK Skincare products are all natural, and not tested on animals. They are manufactured in the UK.

I’m excited to see what LK Skincare comes up with next! Have you tried either of these products?

This post was not sponsored, however, the products were provided to me by LK Skincare for review. As always, my opinions are my own.
