Glow Recipe: A Watermelon Glow Review

Glow Recipe – Watermelon Glow

If you’re a beauty lover it’s likely you’ve heard of Glow Recipe. It’s all been all over Instagram and the blogosphere for quite a while. In today’s post I’m going to review a couple of the products I’ve tried from the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow range. Let’s get into it!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow set - Poutine and Prada

The Brand

Founded by Sarah Lee & Christine Chang in November, 2014, the idea was born during a sheet mask and wine session. I love that. Glow Recipe’s ethos is all about fun with a focus on cute packaging and unexpected textures. The products are formulated with clean ingredients and the brand is cruelty free.

The Review

This little Watermelon Glow set was a 250 point reward at Sephora a month or two ago and I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it. The set included  generous sample sizes of the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisterizer and the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask. I’ve been using both for a month now and really enjoying them. I think these are great products for the summer months.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer

Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer

This oil-free, gel moisturizer is a good one for summer when you want something a bit on the lighter side but that still delivers big hydration. The texture is very light and a bit watery. It’s lightly scented of watermelon but the scent does not linger after the product is applied. It sinks in quickly and does not leave any kind of residue or greasy sensation. It’s perfect for day time. The Pink Juice Moisturizer is contains a large amount of watermelon extract which is purported to hydrate, soothe inflammation, decrease the appearance of pores and slough away dead skin cells.

Whenever I feel like my skin needs a drink I’ve been using this moisterizer together with the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra 8 hyrdating spray and The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum. It’s a total moisture bomb and feels amazing.

I would definitely purchase the full size of this moisturizer when my current stock runs out.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

I like both of these products but the real star of this little combo is the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask. I love it. In fact, this may displace the Origins Overnight Drink Up Intensive mask as my all time favourite overnight mask. Lofty claims, I know.

Like the moisturizer, the texture of the mask is a gel but it is much thicker in consistency. It’s more like a jelly. A small amount goes a long way. I find that a nickel sized amount is enough for my entire face.

This mask is recommended for all skin types. The key ingredients include watermelon extract, hyluronic acid, and AHA. The mask is brightening, moisturizing, and gently exfoliating. It is also watermelon scented, but the scent is not overpowering. When I use this I wake up to skin that is plumped and smoother in appearance. In short, I’m a fan.

So, there you have it! Tell me, have you tried any products from Glow Recipe? They’ve got quite a few others I’d like to try as well.

  1. I haven’t tried this yet but I want to! Is it weird to sleep with a mask on? Like does it get in your pillowcase or anything? I’ve never done it!

    1. The mask is made to be used overnight so it’s not a thick layer like you would see in a traditional mask. It’s more like a heavy night cream. It sinks in really well and I’ve never had a problem with it getting on my pillowcase. Hope that helps!

  2. Talk about perfect timing, I was just watching a YouTube video from their channel on this sleeping mask and was curious about how it works! I never knew the benefits watermelon has on skin, i’m more inclined to try this out the next time I’m at Sephora, thanks for sharing Sarah!
